We’re Matt and Lisa, two GenXers getting ready for retirement and hitting the road in an RV. Our youngest graduates college soon, so we are hanging on until she’s done. WannaBeRV is our little place on the net to jot down all our ideas and planned itineraries. If it helps you out, too — great!
Where we’ve been …
We’ve moved cross-country three times and have lived and traveled to many states, including:
- Michigan (home state; lived in metro Detroit, Ann Arbor, and up north; married on Mackinaw Island)
- Arizona (lived)
- Western New York (lived)
- Minnesota (current state; lived MSP and now up north)
- North & South Dakota
- Montana
- Florida
- California
- Ohio
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Iowa
- Wisconsin
- West Virginia
- Ontario, Canada
As you can see, we still have a bunch of states and provinces to see and lots of trips to plan. Follow along as we get ready for our retirement travels.
Where we’re going …
Our goal is to hit 49/ 50 states by RV and as many provinces as possible (can you say butter tarts and poutine?) However, our top 5 planned trips are:
- Lake Superior Circle tour
- Beach camping in Texas
- Maine
- Bay of Funday and Nova Scotia
- Oceanfront camping in the Florida Keys
- Great River Road from the start (right by our house) to finish
- Disneyworld by RV (Did I say top 5 ……)
How we’re gonna get there …
Well, this remains up for debate. Matt wants a travel trailer, likely an Airstream, with an F-250, so we can unhitch and go. However, I am partial to a Leisure Travel Van, preferably the Unity FX.
